James L. Courtright Jr.

James L. Courtright Jr., 70, of Pleasant Prairie transitioned to eternal life on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born January 19, 1950 in Lake Forest, IL to James and Madonna (Willison) Courtright Sr. Excelling in athletics, he attended Zion-Benton High School and graduated in 1968. Drafted in April 1969, Jim proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge in November 1970. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #0544. A carpenter by trade and longtime member of the Chicago Regional Carpenters Union #250, Jim worked for over 18 years with Blinderman Construction. An avid supporter of live music, Jim enjoyed attending local events and sponsoring his favorites; Log Jam, Asparagii and Cactii. Blessed with the means and motivation to travel, he and his family were domestic and international adventurers. Bungalow camping at Cinnamon Bay, St. John, Virgin Islands was always a favorite. A family man by nature, he enjoyed doing everything he could for them, including building their home in Pleasant Prairie. His smile and charm will live forever with those he touched.

He was preceded in death by, his parents and his sister, Cathy Myers.

Jim is survived by, his companion and best friend of over 40 years, LaVonne Krusa; their daughter, Cassandra Courtright Krusa; his granddaughter, Savannah Courtright Krusa; his sister-in-law, Julie (John) Shepperd a sister, Sheryl Ann Courtright; and numerous family and friends.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at St. George Catholic Cemetery (2901 Sheridan Road) with full military honors on Saturday, June 26th, 2021 at 11:00 A.M.
