John P. Vena

      John P. Vena, age 75, passed away peacefully at the Bay of Sheridan Nursing Home on Tuesday, February 18, 2020.

       John was born on February 11, 1945 to the late Peter and Adalena (Russo) Vena. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Tremper High School.

        He was united in marriage to the late Delores Mitchell.

       John was employed by Johnson Outboard Marine for over thirty years. He also worked as a truck driver for Kix-Kutzler trucking company. After he retired, he enjoyed driving the library book mobile. His true enjoyment was riding his Yamaha scooter around town and to Arkansas with friends. He was a frequent visitor at McDonald’s. He was a former member of St. Thomas Catholic Church where he served as an usher and also volunteered his time making spaghetti at their church dinners. He was a volunteer worker for the Democratic Party and the Southern Colony Home in Burlington until his health began to fail.

      John is survived by his daughter, Anita Vena; a son, John Vena; three brothers, Albert Vena, Joseph Vena and Chuck (Pat) Vena as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.

        In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-sister, Dorothy (Vena) Brook and two sisters-in-law, Josephine (Donzelli) Vena and Rita (Metallo) Vena.

       Per John’s wishes, no funeral services will be held. Rest in peace John, you will be truly missed and forever in our hearts.
