Alan Frederick, 88, of Pleasant Prairie, passed away Sunday January 7, 2018 at Froedtert South from complications related to pneumonia. He was loved by his family and many friends. He was born October 28,1929 (the day before the stock market crash) to George and Tyyne (Maki) Frederick in Kenosha.
He was educated in Kenosha public schools.
He served in the U. S. Navy for 7 years, over 2 years on active duty in the Korean War, serving on the U. S. S. Comstock. He attended the Calvary Baptist Church as a youth.
He was an avid roller skater. He competed professionally, dance skated, and taught skating. He was floor manager at Riverview Roller Rink. He belonged to skating groups The Wanderers, and The Skating Knights, serving as President.
He enjoyed photography. He learned it at the vocational school.
He married Jourene Larsen November 24, 1956 at the First Presbyterian Church in Kenosha. He was a member of the church, and served the church as elder, deacon, board of trustees, and head usher for 40 years.
He was a member of the Navy Club Ship 40. He was a Life Member of the VFW, serving on the firing squad, and in Sons and Daughters Bugle Corp.
He was 32nd degree Mason. He belonged to Southport, now Unity Lodge for 54 years.
He was employed at Nash-AMC-Chrysler for 42 years, retiring April1, 1989. During his time there, he was Chief Steward, a member of Local 72, Ke-Nash-A Club, and Lafayette Club. Work also gave him his nickname, with his fair hair and complexion.
After retirement he worked at Dairyland Race Track and was a Ranger at Brighton Dale Golf Course.
He loved local history and for many years, belonged to the Kenosha County Historical Society.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and older brother George.
He is survived by his wife Jourene, his daughter Earlene and son Boyd (Jennifer) and dog Brit.
Thank you to the staff at Froedtert South (KMH) and Brookside for helping him through his health issues, and helping him to stay home as much as possible.
Funeral services will be held on Friday January 12, 2018 at 11:00AM at First Presbyterian Church in Kenosha. (1803 83rd Street) Visitation with the family will be on Friday at the church from 9:30AM until the time of services. There will be a Masonic Service at 10:15AM. Burial with military honors will follow the services at Greenridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the First Presbyterian Church would be appreciated.
