James (Jim) Lynn DeNio Jr., 80, of Kenosha, WI, passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 24, 2017.
Jim was born June 28, 1936, in Kenosha, the son of James L. DeNio Sr. and Julia (Fischer) DeNio. He was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Jim worked for Chrysler for 30 years and enjoyed 29 long years of retirement. A man of many talents, Jim was a skilled craftsman who loved wood carving. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan; enjoyed golfing and fishing; and passed along his passion for hunting to his children and grandchildren. Jim was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
Jim is survived by Shirley, his loving wife of 62 years; his children, James (Nancy) DeNio, Cheryl McKinstry, Greg DeNio, Marilee (Noel) Ross; his grandchildren, Justin (Kristen) DeNio, Brady (Sara) DeNio, Keely (Tom) Agnew, Kirstin (Andy) Bose, Alexi (Jorge) Arredondo, and Abby DeNio; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 12:00 noon at Lord of Life Lutheran Church. (5901 Washington Road) Visitation with the family will be on Thursday at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
Family and friends are encouraged to wear Green Bay Packer attire to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Baldrick’s Foundation, www.stbaldricks.org, to support childhood cancer research would be appreciated.
Jeff and Mary Gibson says:
Cheryl and Family,
We ask that God give you the following as you go on this journey:
Hope that you will one day see your father again.
Joy that your father is truly in the awesome presence of our Lord.
Faith that God will carry you through until you one day see your father again.
Love and Charity towards each other as you walk through this hard time together.
And Peace knowing that you were able to share closely in your father’s life here on earth and will continue to be watched over by him from this point onward as he is in the presence of the Lord and will be talking to God about your needs.
A donation was made to St. Baldrick’s in your dad’s memory and may this remembrance of your father’s kindness for and commitment to children with cancer be a light to you today.
Sydney Nye (Topel) says:
Dear Shirley and kids,
I was sad to learn of Jim’s passing. It’s so hard to have a parent leave, they are the ones that know you the best and always love you no matter what the situation. And Shirley, having been married for a long time and although your best friend ever is not here to physically be with you, you can be assured he will be there to talk to, laugh with and remember all the life you shared together. You will always have those wonderful memories that will help ease you to a new normal for you all. There is a donation made to St. Baldrick’s to honor your dad. I will be saying a prayer for all of you tomorrow.
