Matthew O. Asuor, passed away May 4, 2017 at Manor Care after a brave two-year battle with cancer.
He was the first child of Peter and Alice. He was educated in his homeland of Lagos, Nigeria and came to the U.S. to pursue further education.
Matthew proudly called Kenosha home for almost 50 years. He was an avid golfer and when he wasn’t golfing, he could be found at his other home, the KYF/YMCA.
He retired from the laborers union and prior to working as a laborer, he was a longshoreman.
He is survived by his sweetheart Kathy, his long dachshund Joy, his favorite sister Mabel of Phoenix, and his other brothers and sisters and their families in Nigeria.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his daughter Alicia.
Per Matthew’s wishes, services were private.
A heartfelt thank you to Heartland Hospice, Dr. David Knight and staff, Froedtert Cancer Center, Dr. Abdul Durrani, Steve Peura, and Andrea and Tyler Bellmore for all their wonderful support and care.
John 14:6 “Jesus Christ is the way and the truth and the life.”

Beatrice Asuor-Okreghe says:
Weeping whilst writing this, to read about my brother’s death and burial like this, the pains can well be imagined. This could only be done in that part of the world because in Africa generally and Nigeria in particular, a deacead’s family are well informed of happenings such as this. But Kathy I presume has her reasons for the secrecy of death and burial of my father’s first seed, my brother.
Okpakomhe, you are gone, you will always be loved and cherished by me. I can never forget our various telephone conversations and you always telling me to hold on to God just as I am presently doing and how you loved Bishop David Oyedepo being the presiding Bishop of my Church. You left for USA when I was but a kid hence I will hold your voice in my memory forever.
How I wish it all ended in a victorious thanksgiving, cancer you know this you have not won but God just chose to grant my brother rest in a place where struggling, pains, tears and evil do not exist.
When I thought i will be privileged to introduce my new husband to you but whilst we were preparing against the set date of 6th May, 2017, you decided to exit this sinful world on 4th May, 2017, can I ever therefore forget your painful exit, never.
Continue to rest in perfect peace my beloved Broda Matthew, till we meet to part no more.
Love you! Love you!! Love you!!! Always your parting words at the end of our conversations and I can hear it echoing.
