George F. Doerflinger Jr. of Kenosha, age 86, died peacefully at his home on Friday, April 21, 2017.
George was born an only child to George F. and Gertrude (Bokmueller) Doerflinger Sr. in Kenosha on August 23, 1930.
After high school, George served in the U.S. Army. On September 15, 1951, he married Patricia Callahan; they were blessed with 65 years of marriage.
For many years he was a salesman for Kemen Sausage and later worked for Romance Foods. George was an active member of St. Thomas Church; he served on the summer festival committee and worked with the Men’s Club. Most recently, George’s faith continued to be an important factor in his life as a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
George enjoyed bowling, golfing, and watching Chicago sports teams. His decades spent as a member of the Die-Hard Cub Fan Club finally paid off as he watched them win the World Series in 2016.
George is survived by his wife Patricia, of Kenosha, and by their children Richard (Denise) Doerflinger, of Racine; Ronald (Kathryn) Doerflinger, of Kenosha; Sharon Doerflinger, of Aurora, Colorado; Christine (Arthur) Markin, of Kenosha; Doreen (Paul) Niemi, of Kenosha; and Debra (Trent Gemoll) Laitinen, of Kenosha. He is further survived by his beloved grandchildren, Ben Doerflinger, Nicole (William) Strehlow, Nathan Markin, Gretchen Doerflinger, Heather (Scott) Matczak, Steven (Adrienne) Niemi, Ian Doerflinger, Ronald (Lourdes) Doerflinger Jr., Richard Doerflinger and Caleb Laitinen. He is also survived by his 10 great grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his parents.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday April 24, 2017 at 6:00 PM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Kenosha (1919 54th Street). Visitation with the family at the church will be from 4:00PM until the time of mass. A private interment will take place on Tuesday at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church would be greatly appreciated.
