Zenona Gomez, age 62, a resident of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Sunday September 13th 2015 at her residence.
Zenona was born February 2nd, 1953 in Mexico, to Jose and Maria Anita (Aguilar) Ortiz. On December 22, 1972, she was united in marriage with Rogelio Gomez in Piedras Negras, Coahuila Mexico. She was a homemaker and they raised four beautiful children together.
Zenona and Rogelio made their home in Kenosha 35 years ago. They came to investigate a better life for their children and never went back. Zenona was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She loved to spend time with her family and enjoyed watching the kids play volleyball while hamburgers, hot dogs and arrechera were cooked on the grill by her sons. She enjoyed looking for bargains at rummage sales and loved playing Loteria (Mexican bingo).
She is survived by her husband of 42 years Rogelio of Kenosha and by her children, Rogelio (Angela) Gomez Jr., Juan Gabriel Gomez, Nancy (Fernando) Mercadillo and Jose Francisco (Jessica) Gomez. Zenona is further survived by her 13 beloved grandchildren; Lisette, Saleena, Juan Jr., Rogelio III, Jocelyn, Emelio, Diego, Jayliana, Fernando, Julisa, Janessa, Caden and Victoria and by her brothers , Natalio Ortiz, Maximo Ortiz and Jose Concepcion Ortiz and her sister Juanita Valdez.
Zenona was preceded in death by her parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday September 18th 2015 at 11:00AM at St. Mark Catholic Church in Kenosha. (7117-14th Avenue) Visitation with the family will be on Friday at the church from 9:00AM until the time of mass. Entombment will take place at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
