Ann Fugette (1918 – 2010)

She was born on June 10, 1918 to Taras and Ksenia (Chernik) Lapotka in Chicago IL. After moving to Kenosha with her family as a child, she attended Durkee Elementary School, Lincoln Junior High School and Mary D. Bradford High School, graduating from the latter in 1939. Ann married Charles Fugette in 1940. They divorced in 1942 leaving her to care and provide for their two children, Terry and Tom.

Ann worked as a housekeeper and cared for her son Terry from the time he was paralyzed in a 1956 diving accident until his death on February 14, 1999. She was known as a giving, supportive, hard working, thoughtful and caring woman who drew much of her strength through her strong family upbringing and being one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Talking with friends, doing crossword puzzles and watching cooking shows were activities she enjoyed in her later years.

Preceding her in death was her mother on January 25, 1936; father on January 20, 1955 brother Michel Lapotka in April 2009 and son Terry.

Surviving are brothers John Lapotka of Madison, WI and Walter Kimberly of Lake Park, FL; sister Helen Matsen of Kenosha; son Tom of Pleasant Prairie; grandchildren Sarah Fugette and Jeffrey Fugette of Kenosha and Joshua Fugette of Austin, TX and great grandson Kyron Fugette of Kenosha.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 23rd at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 7333 Green Bay Road, Kenosha.
