With heavy hearts family announces that Peter S. O’Connor of Kenosha WI passed away Sunday, October 4, 2026 at the age of 66.
He was born in Columbus, Ohio on October 2, 1960 to Peter J. and Edith M. O’Connor. Moving to Kenosha in the mid 60’s Peter grew up in a busy household, the only son and one of five children. He was raised in a loving family and enjoyed numerous pets.
Peter was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, proudly displaying the green and gold or joining friends at Clay’s Tap for a game. A wealth of knowledge about statistics, players, and standings, he loved rehashing the games or taunting fans of the opponents when they lost. Also a staunch Milwaukee Brewer baseball fan, Pete enjoyed going to games when possible. He had a heart for the Chicago Cubs, his dad’s team, having been initiated to Major League Baseball at the hallowed halls of Wrigley Field as a young boy.
Peter also spent many summer days on the shores of Lake Michigan fishing. He patiently shared this passion with nieces and nephews.
Also a reader, Peter preferred historical fiction, westerns, as well as crime and suspense novels.
Peter lived on his own terms, not concerned with the world’s measuring stick for success. He lived a simple life. Shy, content to sit back from the crowd at family gatherings, but quick with a compliment. Great sense of humor, and easily made us laugh.
He worked at Roger and Marv’s Super Valu often connecting with elderly customers who sought him out to visit.
In recent years, up until the day before his death, Pete worked at House of Gerhard where staff there was an extended family to him.
Peter was a survivor and overcame countless challenges throughout his life. He faced consequences, forged ahead. Ever the optimist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter J, and Edith M. O’Connor, survived by his four siblings Julie Thompson ( Scott) Susan Nelson (Tom)
Amy Holtzman (Tim) and Mary Dunham (Brian). Also survived by 9 nieces and nephews as well as 8 great nieces and nephews who will all miss him dearly.
Never married, Peter truly enjoyed his role as uncle.
Never a church-goer or traditionalist, Peter was a kind and generous soul who found his peace in nature. Often at a favorite fishing spot, appreciating nature.
From an excerpt from “The Count of Monte Cristo” by Alexander Dumas.
Edmond Dantes : I don’t believe in God.
Abbe Faria: That doesn’t matter, He believes in you.
We believed in Peter his whole life, loved him and will miss him.
The family will gather at a later date to celebrate his life.
