Darlene Dorothy Waldhe (nee Johnson) age 86 of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on November 29th, 2024. She was born in Milwaukee on January 10, 1938 to Marshall and Florence Johnson. Throughout her life, Darlene was known for her warmth, humor and dedication to her family.
Darlene married Francis ‘Frank’ Hannafin at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Chicago and together they had four children. Though they later divorced, they remained lifelong friends. Darlene then met her lifelong partner, John Holczer and they spent 51 years together.
A dedicated and hardworking woman, Darlene worked as a cosmetologist for Walgreens in Chicago, retiring at the age of 62. She was known for her strong work ethic and love of makeup.
Darlene loved nothing more than spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards, especially with her family, and she was an avid bingo player and enjoyed playing slot machines. Darlene also cherished dining out and sharing meals with her loved ones.
She is survived by her four children: Michael Hannafin (Pleasant Prairie), Eileen (William) Cassidy (Round Lake Beach), Mary Ann Hannafin (Pleasant Prairie) and Joanne Hannafin (Pleasant Prairie). Darlene’s legacy lives on through her beloved grandchildren, Nicole Cassidy (Fox Lake) and Melissa Cassidy (South Carolina), as well as great-grandchildren Ryan, Madison and Kelsey. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall and Florence Johnson, as well as her sister Betty Dressler and brother Robert Johnson.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Sage Meadows Assisted Living for their compassionate care, as well as to the staff of Hospice Alliance for their support and comfort during her final days.
A private family service will be held.
