George Milton Mager

George Milton Mager, from Russell Illinois Passed away June 8, 2024 

George was born on February 22, 1942, to Margaret (Roth) and Arthur Mager. He was raised in Midlothian Illinois and went to Bremen H.S. and graduated in 1961.After high school he served on the USS Arcadia, which was a destroyer tender that carried every facility for the maintenance and supply repair for 18 destroyers. This is where George became a Maintenance Engineer, serving on the ship earning a certificate as a Machinist Mate 2 in the Navy. After serving in the Navy, George went to Allied Institute Technology and graduated as a precision machine tool operator. George’s experience provided opportunities to work in big corporations such as Harvest International (H-i), Libby’s, Signode and Cherry Corporation. George also owned a construction company Mager’s Construction and built several homes in the Midlothian, Illinois area.

George married Oreal Swanson and had five children Gloria (Jim) Hopkinson, Christine (Andrew) Bowyer, Jeffrey Mager, L’Oreal Mager, and Melissa (Jim) Martin. George has 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He is survived by one Brother, Arthur Carl, Mager, Fla. Proceeded in death by his mother and father Margaret and Arthur Mager. He will be buried at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Tinley Park Illinois. There will be a private service with his family, in new Lenox Illinois.
