William Leon, Bill Sartain, 72, of Zion, Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, and loved ones on Sunday, February 18, 2024. He was born on October 16, 1951 in Oahu, Hawaii, to Billie Francis Sartain and Rose Gun Sim Mew. He moved to the Midwest as a teenager with a parent station at Great Lakes Naval Base. He worked for over 25 years as a machinist for US Envelope in North Chicago, which moved to Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin and became Mead WestVāco Paper Company, and later, Cenveo.
Bill was known as a very kind hearted, husband, friend and neighbor, ready to help anyone who needed it, especially if they were having trouble with a lawnmower, a vehicle, or a snowblower. He was an avid gardener, and took very good care of his crops. He loved to build model ships and airplanes. He took great joy in maintaining things properly and caring for his family & beloved kitty cats.
Bill is survived by his wife, Susan (Hall) Sartain, Son, Michael Sartain, and daughter, Danielle Sartain, both of Kenosha, and by his stepdaughter, Julia Kaplan, and Hannah (Will) Harold, Kenosha. By brother Thomas McNamee, and sisters, Patricia McClung, Marla Castillo, and Joy (Gary) Waldron. Also, by grandchildren Sydni (Nickolas) Reynolds, and Ethan Lewis, and also Zachary, Benjamin, Charlie, and Aubrie Harold.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Joel Sartain, brother Barry Sartain, stepmother, Willa Sartain, sister, Cheryl Glos, sister, Beverly McNamee
A memorial service will be held in Bill’s honor on Saturday, April 6 at 1 PM at Kenosha City Church, 6009 Pershing Boulevard.
