Olga Tijerina

Olga Tijerina (Santos) age 71, of Kenosha, passed away on January 20, 2024. She was born on March 26, 1952 in San Antonio TX to the late Joseph and Raquel (Ramon) Santos. In 1955, she moved with her family to Kenosha where she lived for the remainder of her life. She attended Kenosha public schools and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School. On September 24, 1977, she married Richard Tijerina at St. James Catholic Church. Her career included positions in the Trust Department of First National Bank of Kenosha and later at Southport Bank.

Olga’s community service included duties as Treasurer of the League of United Latin American Citizens (Council 320) and Spanish Center of Racine and Kenosha. She volunteered for the VFW Post 1865 Women’s Auxiliary and was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and previously St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Olga enjoyed bowling, softball and deer hunting with her husband.

Olga is survived by her son Bryan Tijerina; grandchildren Gianni Tijerina, Santino, Karmyn and Kaia Rose; brothers Armando (Kathy) Santos, Joseph Santos Jr., Alfonso (Priscilla) Santos; sisters Yolanda  Adams, Sylvia Guelzo, Gloria (Richard) Zigner.  Also, her nephews Miguel Adams (godson), Andre (Rebecca) Adams, Timothy (Salina) Santos, Joshua Brown, Nicholas Santos, Jason Santos, Joel Santos, Jordan (Jillian) Santos, Roland Garza, Robert (Valerie) Santos; and nieces Christina Santos-Lear (goddaughter), Sheena (Emmanual) Barriteau, Alaina (Jessie) Rose and Alicia Brown.  Also, the Tijerina family siblings of her late husband (her in-laws), and many great-nephews-nieces.

Olga was preceded in death by her spouse, parents, siblings Olivia Garza and Roberto Santos, nephew Sacramento Garza, niece Amanda Brown and granddaughter Myah Tijerina.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, January 25th, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (2224-45th St, Kenosha WI) at 5:00 P.M. A visitation with the family will take place at the church from 4:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Burial at Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove WI will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, friends may choose to honor those who served by sponsoring a wreath at SWVMC (“Wreaths Across America” website at: www.wreathsacrossamerica.org).

The family thanks Vickie Hessefort for her longtime friendship throughout Olga’s lifetime.
