David Frederick Schimian, beloved husband, parent, grandparent, son, brother, and friend passed away on May 22, 2023, at the age of 60. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years Andrea, his children Bradley and Ellen, his 3 grandchildren Rachel, Noah, and Ishmael, his mother Susan Schuder, his sister Beth, and his cousin Amy. David was predeceased by his father, Frederick.
He was a creature of habit and preferred to live a no-frills life. You could almost certainly find David in the garage scrapping metal and listening to his favorite metal music. If he was not inside the garage, he would be in the backyard waiting for the trains to pass, as he knew exactly what trains would be coming down the Union Pacific rail line.
David was born in 1963 in Port Washington, WI. He grew up in Mequon and Racine county, WI, graduating from JI Case High School. He attended UW-Parkside and UW-Platteville, studying engineering. He met Andrea while attending UW-Parkside and they were married on February 26, 1983.
He held several jobs throughout the years including custodian at St. George Parish, with his most recent being at Carthage College as a maintenance technician. He celebrated his 20th anniversary at the College this year. He was beloved by his colleagues and staff, as well as students.
As per the family’s wishes, there will not be a service and visitation; rather an intimate celebration of life will be held privately to cherish David’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate cards, and memories and thoughts can be left on www.CaseyFamilyOptions.com. The family also requests that in his honor, all well-wishers listen to their favorite music, at a high volume, while enjoying their favorite beverage while thinking of him.

We will miss Dave,we could always count on him to take our scrap metal. Larry always enjoyed visiting Dave in his garage while on his lawnmower. I will miss not hearing the train conductor tooting his horn twice when Dave would wave to them. We are praying for all.

Dave we miss you! We were lucky to have a great friend and neighbor like you. We could count on you to be dressed up for Halloween Trick or Treat and always made sure “the Mom and Dad got some candy too”. Shaw enjoyed your stories and company and helping him begin his own scrapping pile… one bucket at a time. It’s been hard accepting that you’re gone and will miss you and your beautiful sunrise captures. Ellen, Brad, and Andrea I’m so very sorry for your great loss and am thinking of you all.

Dave has been a good guy and a caring neighbor for so many years now. The neighborhood will not be the same without him. I remember how beautifully groomed his yards train track hill was, and how he beamed with pride when I complimented him on it. (Ours is always full of weeds!) We are thankful for him sharing his wonderful daughter with our family over the years. It feels like she one of us. Ellen, Brad, and Andrea, we are so sorry for your loss, and you are all in are prayers.

It’s taken me this time to post something. My brother… sigh. There will never be the right words to express my feelings for what is and what will be. But here goes… He carried his heart on his shoulder, but kept it guarded. He was a loner, introvert, but wanted to live out loud, but didn’t know how to do it and not lose himself. He loved nature, music, and hikes. Rivers and trains. He craved enormous amounts of quiet/ alone time. We hated high bridges and loved the same beer. Let’s not forget his sense of humor and dry whit. And he loved the color orange… orange lives matter. 😂 I’ll miss him now and forever more.

Was a very good friend, mentor and colleague, with a great sense of humor, purpose and dedication. I miss him every day.
Over the past couple years, we became close. Working on MANY projects and spending a lot of time together at Carthage.
Dave was always quick to throw in that little bit of sarcasm and humor to make the situation a easier to endure and accomplish.
My prayers are with his family in this extremely difficult, sad, tragic and lonely time 🙏
